Week 28

Baby says:
This week I am a rutabaga!
"My lungs are now developed, so I could breathe outside if I had to at this point. But I think I'll stay in here for now. Nice and cozy."

It's amazing how fast she is growing! She now weighs 3 lbs! You can tell how much she's grown from the outside as well. It now looks like I've swallowed a beach ball as opposed to a volleyball.
This week marks the beginning of my third trimester. I can't believe we're here already. On the one hand, I feel like I've been pregnant forever. On the other hand, I hardly feel prepared for Miss Sofia's arrival. I don't really have space to start a nursery for her, so right now she has a shelf where her things are collecting. I've had a lot of free time lately, so I've been updating her registry. It's amazing how with all of the checklists and resources out there, I still don't have a firm idea of what she will actually need. Then, once you decide what you really need, you have to do research on it to make sure you get the right one. It's a workout!
In addition to the registry, I've also been working on her hand-made projects. I have started her blanket, although I ended up changing the blue to a gold color. It just seemed to go better.
I also had some time to whip up this little gal.

P.S. When I told Mani that our baby was now the size of a rutabaga, he was extremely puzzled, "What is that? Can you eat it?" I realized that I have never actually seen a rutabaga in person before and had previously only thought of it as a funny word, not an actual vegetable.

  1. Rutabagas are called swedes in England. They are very good boiled and mashed with butter!

Seems odd to me she went from an eggplant to a swede as a swede seems rounder?? Maybe just her little body... ;-)

You look marvelous. Are you having a shower?

    Kisses

    1. I have decided that I must look for a rutabaga the next time I am in the grocery store!
I'm not quite sure how they determine the fruit/vegetable to baby comparison--maybe weight? She should weigh about 3 lbs now, which is pretty hefty! Also, she passed through lettuce and cauliflower on her way from eggplant to rutabaga, I just haven't been particularly diligent about blogging every week.
Thank you for the compliment! I'm starting to feel my roundness, and find myself unable to walk without waddling!
I am having a shower, although I'm not sure of the date or time yet. My mom is putting it together.
